Andrew Bass
Andrew Bass is an active teacher and freelancer in the Cincinnati area. Andrew received his Bachelor’s and Master's from The New England Conservatory in Horn Performance studying under Jason Snider and James Sommerville the principal and 4th horn of the Boston Symphony. Prior to this he was a graduate of Mason High School.
Before moving back to Ohio he taught and performed in the New England area. His current teaching positions include horn professor at Southern New Hampshire University, Winchester Community Music School, and Manchester Community Music School. He is the active 3rd horn in the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra and has performed with groups such as the United States Coast Guard Band, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, among other New England based ensembles.
He has also enjoyed success in Chamber and Solo performing. He was a Finalist in the International Horn Symposium Premiere Soloist Competition and is a former winner of the Blue Ash Montgomery Symphony Orchestra Competition. His chamber group also won first prize in the New England Conservatory Honors Competition. His other primary teachers include Erik Ralske the principal horn of the Metropolitan Opera and Kevin Rivard the principal horn of the San Francisco Ballet and co principal of the San Francisco Opera.
