NEW INFORMATION

Joint Concert with CCM Wind Symphony

On Friday February 23, 2024, our Mason Wind Symphony will be performing a joint concert the CCM Wind Symphony. Tickets can be purchased HERE. It is recommended that family and friends purchase tickets ASAP. It is anticipated that this concert will sell out. Patricia Corbett Theater is a smaller venue.

Tentative Summer Band Dates

For students planning to participate in marching band, avoid vacations on the following dates:

Mini Band Camp: June 3-7
Percussion/Guard Camp: June 17-21 (Percussion and Guard students ONLY)
Start of Band Camp: July 22nd

Small Ensemble Concert (Concert Green and Concert Silver)
Tuesday, February 6th

Please join us Tuesday, February 6th for the Concert Green and Concert Silver concert. Students should report to the band room wearing their concert uniforms. Black dress shoes, black socks, and a white tuxedo shirt. Families who wish to view the performance can park in the back music lot, and enter through the Small Commons Door. See map below for parking and entry instructions.

5:50pm- Arrive at the C13 Music Door.
6:00pm- Warm-Up in the band room.
6:20pm- Move to the Small Commons.
6:30pm- Small Ensemble Concert Begins

6:50pm- Arrive at the C13 Music Door.
7:00pm- Warm-Up in the band room.

MHS Recital Night Signup And Information

For the third year we will be hosting Mason Bands Recital Night. This event is a replacement for the OMEA Solo and Ensemble event students performed in past years. Recital Night is required for Wind Symphony members as part of their honor credit criteria. Participation is strongly encouraged for all other band members, as it is a great way to improve individual musical skills. All recital night information can be found in this INFORMATIONAL SHEET. Registration can be completed at the RECITAL NIGHT REGISTRATION FORM. REGISTRATION IS DUE FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 9TH.

Congratulations to the Mason Band students accepted to OMEA All State Orchestra & Band, Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble! We are so proud of you. We have no doubt you will represent our band program well. Please note that the directors have already communicated with the attendance office to excuse participants from any school days they will miss.

REMINDERS

Booster Executive Committee Election

We will be voting to elect the next Booster Executive Committee in April. If you are interested in running for a position on the Executive Committee, please reach out to Kim Bishop by March 1st at secretary@masonbandboosters.com. We will be announcing the candidates shortly after the deadline. Anyone is welcome to run for any Executive Committee position. Please click here to see Executive Board positions and their descriptions along with details of the election process according to our current booster bylaws. This link contains our current Booster Executive Committee team structure for the current school year. This can be used as a reference to see what committees currently fall under each board position. Please note that the team structure is reviewed and adjusted each year by the Executive Committee to best suit the needs of the band program.

If you have any further questions about what any of the positions entail, please do not hesitate to contact any current board member. We would be happy to talk with you.

Another important role we need to fill for next season is the Sponsorship Chair. This is not a board position, but is critical to helping us provide opportunities to our students and help us to keep costs down. Thank you in advance for your consideration in serving in a leadership position of the band booster organization. It is a fun and rewarding way to support our incredible band program and more importantly the students.

Winter Guard Registration Happening Now!!

This year, Mason will showcase FOUR winter guard teams: the Competitive Winter Guard, the Winter Guard Performance Ensemble, the 7th Grade Winter Guard, and a 5th & 6th Grade Winter Guard for the first time ever! The Winter Guard Performance Ensemble is open to current 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th graders to primarily begin training for the fall color guard season through equipment and dance instruction. WGPE is also open to current seniors, should they choose to have one more performance season with us! Auditions and placements for the marching band fall color guard will be in late April, so by participating in this group, you are guaranteeing your best possible placement in the fall season. Sign ups are happening NOW for the Winter Guard Performance Ensemble.

2024 Pep Band Information

We are excited to get our Pep Band season started! Pep band is a great way to play some fun music with your friends, while supporting our school and community.

This year, each member of Concert Winds, Symphonic Band, and Wind Symphony will again be responsible for two basketball games as part of their grade for the Spring Semester. Some years this is a three game requirement, but due to the busy Rose Parade year, we have restructured to do the same amount of games with each student only needing to attend two games to respect your busy schedule. For all students in Concert White, Silver and Green pep band is not required but students are welcome and encouraged to attend if they want to visit with their friends and perform to support our school and community!
