Booster Operating Committees

Current Committee Chairs:  2015-16 Mason Band Booster Committee Chairs

Alumni Relations, alumni@masonbandboosters.com:  We want to stay in touch with former members of the Marching Band.  This committee organizes alumni events and maintains a contact database and ensure communication with these members. This committee reports to the Public Information Officer.

Band Camp, bandcamp@masonbandboosters.com: Support our students and parents from registration to the last day of band camp.  During the registration phase, we need volunteers to collect and log paperwork.  During the planning phase, we need volunteers to manage a variety of tasks: help student leaders to plan social activities, work with district staff to set up the kitchen, purchase supplies and snacks, plan the potluck dessert, etc.  During the two-week band camp, we need an army of volunteers to support our students and directors each day.  This committee reports to the Vice President.

Chaperones, chaperones@masonbandboosters.com: Our kids need chaperones when they attend band camp, football games, and competitions. This is a great way to get to know the kids and other parents and get a great view of behind-the-scene action.  Training is required to volunteer as Chaperone.  This committee reports to the Travel Secretary.

Communications, charmsadmin@masonbandboosters.com:  This committee ensures that all members of the Band Family are up to date with Band News.  Responsible for communicating via email and Charms.  Reports to the Recording Secretary.

Competitions: Our marching band hosts two competitions each season: The Mason Band Invitational and the Mid-States Band Association Championships. All marching band parents must volunteer at these events for them to be successful.  This committee organizes all aspects of these competitions and coordinates the volunteers. This committee reports to the President.

Concessions, concessions@masonbandboosters.com: Organizing and staffing the concession stands at football games is a huge commitment and a large part of our fundraising efforts each year. All marching band parents help staff the concession stands.  This committee leads this effort by purchasing food, coordinating volunteers, and pulling together all the details. This committee reports to the Treasurer.

Flags: Our color guard members need volunteers to cut and sew the flags they use for practice and competition. If you can use scissors or a sewing machine, you can help with flags! This committee reports to the President.

Food Support: We need volunteers to coordinate feeding our kids before performances and providing water when we attend competitions. This committee reports to the Vice President.

Fundraising, fundraising@masonbandboosters.com: We can’t do all that we do without fundraising! Our fundraising efforts are year-round and include Corporate Sponsorships, the Band Bash, Car Wash, Tag Day, Flower and Cookie Dough sales, and Dine & Donate events at area restaurants, among others.  Volunteers at these events are imperative for their success.  This committee reports to the VP-Fundraising.

Photography, photo@masonbandboosters.com:  If you are the parent who never leaves home without your camera so that you can document every moment of your child's life, then this committee is for you!  Our talented parent photographers are present at all band events, taking photos at Band Camp, Marching Band rehearsals and competitions, and band concerts.  The committee posts these photos on a SmugMug site to share with our band families. This committee reports to the Public Information Officer.

Pit Crew: Here’s your chance to have a front-row seat at our performances! Our equipment needs to be loaded onto our semi, unloaded for performances, and transported onto the field. Pit Crew volunteers are also instrumental in helping the Marching Band with the show props each year.  This committee reports to the Travel Secretary.

Special Events: We plan traditional events for the band, including Senior Night and the end-of-season Awards Banquet.  We also volunteer to run a space for After Prom.  These are the fun events for the band members and staff where they can take a break from the routine practices. This committee reports to the Assistant Treasurer.

Spirit: Spirit is the FUN committee! This group organizes events—tailgates, dinners, fan sections at performances, and send-offs before competitions—to help parents connect with each other and have fun as we support our students. Spirit is a committee for every parent!  This committee reports to the Public Information Officer.

Technical Support, admin@masonbandboosters.com:  This group helps the Booster Machine run by maintaining the website and file storage.  Works with Competition Chair for scoring duties at Competitions.  Reports to the Public Information Officer.

Uniforms, uniforms@masonbandboosters.com: It takes a dedicated group of volunteers to keep the marchers looking their best in their uniforms. Since we have such a large group, there are separate committees for Musicians and Guard members.  We need volunteers to coordinate uniform fittings at the beginning of the season and to help the kids prepare before performances. These committees report to the President.
