Chaperone Training

As we start gearing up for the start of marching band season, one important volunteer opportunity is being a CHAPERONE for our kids.  Chaperones are needed wherever our marching band goes -- home football games, selected away football games, band competitions, and other performances.  To get a full understanding of this volunteer position, read the Chaperone Handbook linked below.

If you are interested in becoming a chaperone, a background check is required in accordance with Mason City Schools policy.  The cost of a background check is $16.00 and is good for five years.  That means that if you've had a background check in the past five years, another one is not necessary at this time.  The background check will allow you to chaperone any non-overnight event.

If you are interested in chaperoning an overnight event (BOA Super-Regional, Grand Nationals, etc.), you will also be required to attend a Stewards of Children class offered by Mason City Schools IN ADDITION TO the background check.  Classes are held at the Mason Central Administration Building located at 211 N. East St. and scheduled frequently.  To register, contact Jane Johnson at the Mason Central Office at 513-398-0474.
